Bringing hands-on activities out into the community
In March 2017, STEAM Centers began participating in several community events as a way to bring awareness to the new organization. Initially providing only make-and-take activities, we were able to engage with over 350 children in our first year!
Looking to incorporate more play elements similar to those in traditional children’s museums, yet still able to travel to community-based events, we fully launched the Pop-Up Museum in early 2018. Simple and mobile, our exhibits a designed to encourage play and skill building. Keeping with our core concept areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Music, the exhibits facilitate fine and gross motor development, early learning, and tactile stimulation.
2018 was a year of exponential growth, as we saw 1100 children between our community and school-based events! We have also begun partnering with established agencies whose programs promote positive child and youth development. Our goal is to expand even further in 2019, bringing even more exciting opportunities for play in our community!
